Job Description - UX/UI Design

Experience: 4 years relevant experience agency or in-house

Location: Hybrid – Tues/Wed in DUMBO Brooklyn Office

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience

As a UX/UI Designer at thelab, you will play a crucial role in shaping the digital experience for B2B/B2C clients across responsive web platforms. You will collaborate closely with insights, creative, and technology teams to create design systems, websites, thoughtful content, and more to enhance user satisfaction and help brands evolve.

You Are:

• • Someone who sees and thinks about the world with a conceptual lens and eye for aesthetics. You love all things design with the ability to transform them into principles from color, typography, graphics, components, interactions, and digital products.
  • Multi-disciplined with a background working with brands to solve for both UX and UI design challenges. You design user-centered experiences that are intuitive, simple to use, with engaging look and feel.
  • Detailed oriented and obsessed with grids to the pixel. You know how to translate designs into systems.
  • A self-starter and team player who understands how to manage up.

• Following the latest and greatest in user-centric design best practices, keeps dynamic type, interactions, and accessible color palettes top of mind.

Must Have:

• • An online portfolio that shows responsive thinking for UX, UI, and Visual design through a mobile-first approach.

• Knowledge of fundamental design principles. We’re looking for someone who is just as obsessed as we are about beautiful layouts, typography, color, photography, and motion.

• A collaborative mindset, to partner with a team of UX/UI designers, copywriters, and developers to create low/high fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to effectively communicate design concepts that meet final product specs.

• • Ability to create and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI patterns to ensure consistency across all digital platforms.

• Ability to notice all the details when it comes to design executions. You need to be meticulous and organized.

• • Ability to conduct competitor research, and gather feedback to iteratively improve the user experience.
  • Understanding of accessible design best practices.

• Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Suite.

Nice to Have:

• Ability to gather and synthesize UX research to help define product requirements and use cases.
• Ability to create personas and user journeys through user research and data.
• Basic understanding of motion principles and interaction design, happy to storyboard as needed.
• An ability to communicate UX research, user flows, design concepts and visual solutions with clients through verbal/visual presentations.
